Prepare to be spooked in the small town of Disney’s Goosebumps adaptation. There’s something eerie happening, and it seems like Justin Long might be to blame. Is he possessed? By himself, perhaps?
But wait, could it be the parents of these kids? Growing up in the same small town as your parents comes with its own set of expectations. And in this case, those expectations might just be…deadlier.
The Goosebumps series is based on five thrilling novels by R.L. Stine: Say Cheese and Die!, The Haunted Mask, The Cuckoo Clock of Doom, Go Eat Worms!, and Night of the Living Dummy. In this show, five students portrayed by Zack Morris, Isa Briones, Miles McKenna, Ana Yi Puig, and Will Price embark on a twisted journey to uncover the truth behind the tragic death of Harold Biddle, a teenager who passed away three decades ago. Along the way, they also unearth dark secrets from their parents’ past.
The series was developed by Nicholas Stoller, a producer of D.C League of Super Pets, and directed by Rob Letterman, the mastermind behind the 2015 Goosebumps movie. And mark your calendars, because it premieres on Friday, October 13th, exclusively on Disney+ and Hulu. The first drop includes five episodes, with the rest releasing weekly.
This post was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the series being covered here wouldn’t exist.
