Get ready for some exciting news in the world of comic books! The incredibly talented writer, Rick Remender, has just signed an exclusive three-year deal with Image Comics.
In a press release, Image Comics announced, “We are thrilled to have bestselling, creative trailblazer Rick Remender on board. This exclusive deal gives Remender complete creative freedom for his upcoming titles and sets the stage for a wave of thrilling plans for his Giant Generator imprint.”
Rick Remender turned down Marvel and DC in favor of Image
Remender has already made a name for himself with his incredible work on various Image titles such as Deadly Class, Fear Agent, Black Science, Stranger Girl, and Low. He even founded his own imprint, Giant Generator, in 2016. But that’s not all – Remender is also known for his work on popular Marvel titles like Uncanny X-Force and Captain America. Interestingly, he turned down more Marvel opportunities and even declined offers from DC to go exclusive with Image.
When asked about his decision, Remender explained, “I recently turned down very generous offers to write X-Men and Batman. While flattered, I believe that would be a step backwards artistically and not where my heart is at. Image allows us to co-own 100% of our properties, which is important for long-term thinking and building something that can be passed down to future generations. This contract is a testament to my belief in myself, my collaborators, and our ability to create and own our work. Exclusively. With everything we’ve got. It’s like our lives are on the line.”
Image publisher and chief creative officer, Eric Stephenson, expressed his excitement about working with Remender, saying, “Collaborating with Rick is like embarking on a thrilling road trip with the wind in your hair. His Giant Generator comics imprint is always filled with creativity and energy, offering new adventures and unexplored territories. If that doesn’t embody the spirit of Image Comics, I don’t know what does. I can’t wait to see where he takes us next.”
