Barbie Deleted Scene Unveils Allan’s Side-Splitting Jaws-Inspired Moment

Imagine a world without the creativity and talent of writers and actors. That’s the reality during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without their labor, the film we’re about to discuss wouldn’t even exist.

Hold on to your seats, because Barbie is taking the world by storm! Not only has it become the highest-grossing movie of the year, but it has also made its way into IMAX theaters with some exciting “special new footage,” as described by filmmaker Greta Gerwig.

In a recent interview with Variety, cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto spilled the beans on some hilarious moments that didn’t make it into the final cut of the film. One of these gems involved Ken’s friend, Allan (played by the talented Michael Cera), recreating a scene from the iconic movie Jaws.

“We had this incredible shot of Allan, where he perfectly emulated the fear from Jaws,” Prieto revealed. “Ken hits a massive wave, launching Allan into the air. As he lands, a police officer witnesses someone being devoured by a mysterious creature in the water. The camera zooms in on Allan’s terrified face while simultaneously zooming out, creating a mind-bending effect. It was a dramatic and unforgettable moment.”

Apparently, Greta Gerwig couldn’t contain her laughter during Cera’s hilarious performance. Prieto added, “Greta couldn’t stop laughing at that scene. It was pure comedic gold.”

Prieto also teased another intriguing scene involving Barbie’s pregnant friend, Midge (played by the talented Emerald Fennell), giving birth. And guess who provided the voiceover? The legendary Helen Mirren! “We had this special moment where Helen Mirren blocks the camera,” Prieto hinted, leaving us all curious and wanting more.

But wait, there’s more! Prepare for some belly-aching laughter, thanks to Will Ferrell’s portrayal of Mattel’s CEO. Prieto couldn’t help but gush about Ferrell’s improvisational skills, saying, “Will Ferrell is a comedic genius. The bloopers from his scenes are pure gold. We were all cracking up on set, and there were so many hilarious moments that unfortunately had to be left out.”

Don’t miss out on the Barbie phenomenon! The movie is still playing in theaters, and there’s even a new IMAX version with extra footage to satisfy your Barbie cravings.
