Working from home is usually a dream come true. But there are a few jobs—just a few—where doing your job in your pajamas might have some unexpected consequences. Take the role of an “editor on a gruesome horror film,” for example. Picture this: you’re diligently working one morning, putting together the bone-chilling sound effects for an upcoming movie scene, minding your own business. However, when your neighbors hear blood-curdling screams coming from your seemingly ordinary house, they might jump to some incorrect conclusions.
That’s exactly what happened to Steve Forn, the editor of “Saw X,” whose neighbors decided to call the police.
Director Kevin Greutert shared this amusing anecdote with NME, explaining that Forn was editing a scene involving an “eye vacuum trap” (a combination of words that I hope to never encounter in any context). It seems Forn may have had the volume turned up a bit too high, causing his neighbors to get an earful. NME reports:
“There was a knock at the door,” Greutert recounted, “We have the doorbell camera video of the police walking up, Forn answering the door, and the police saying, ‘The neighbors have been calling and saying someone’s being tortured to death in here.’
Fortunately, everything turned out fine in the end. Forn explained his occupation to the police and even invited them in to see the evidence. They apparently had a good laugh and assured him that everything was okay. Let’s just hope that Forn invested in a pair of top-notch headphones to avoid any future visits.
“Saw X” is now showing in theaters.
