US-Wide Emergency Alert Sparks Fears of Nationwide Zombie Outbreak

Get ready, because today at 2:20 pm Eastern time, something big is happening. Cell phone, TV, and radio users across the US will experience an emergency alert test on their devices.

This test is designed to check the effectiveness of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) on TV and radio, as well as the Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) system for cell phones.

Orlando Olivera, Coordinator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Caribbean Area Office in Puerto Rico, emphasized the importance of these alerts in a press release. “We want to ensure that the systems continue to be effective,” he said, “and that the public understands and uses these alerts and warnings about emergencies, particularly those on the national level, as we work to strengthen emergency readiness among our communities.”

Now, let’s address the conspiracy theories. Some people believe that this test is somehow connected to COVID-19 vaccinations and even involves zombies. But let’s be clear: this is pure nonsense. There is no way that 5G technology can activate viruses in the body, and the government certainly wouldn’t intentionally release a deadly virus to its population. These tests are conducted every three years as required by federal law, and they pose no health risks or unleash any zombie viruses.

Interestingly, a similar conspiracy claim was made earlier this year about an emergency alert test in the UK. Rest assured, the IFLScience team based in the UK can confirm that we haven’t turned into zombies. No braaaaaaaains here.
