If you thought Sandra Bullock’s character being kidnapped into one of her own novels in The Lost City was thrilling, get ready for Matthew Vaughn’s latest film, Argylle. The director, known for his work on Kingsman: The Golden Circle, is back with a story that blurs the lines between fiction and reality. Brace yourself for a tale of dramatic espionage that may just predict the future. And did we mention there’s a cat? Plus, the incredible Sam Rockwell as an action hero. Trust us, it’s worth the price of admission.
According to Variety, the plot of Argylle goes like this:
Bryce Dallas Howard plays Elly Conway, a reclusive author of best-selling espionage novels. Her idea of bliss is a quiet night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie. But when the events in Elly’s books start mirroring the actions of a real-life spy organization, her peaceful evenings become a thing of the past.
The trailer for Argylle leaves us guessing about the true identity of secret agent Argylle. At first, it seems like Elly’s mom is reading her book, but then a real spy appears, and he’s nothing like the character in the novel. The anticipation builds as we await the reveal of the actual agent. Could it be the cat? We can only hope.
Written by Jason Fuchs, Argylle features an impressive cast including Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Henry Cavill, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, John Cena, Dua Lipa, Ariana DeBose, and Samuel L. Jackson. With such talent on board, the film’s release date of February 2, 2024, seems unusual, but we’re eagerly counting down the days.
This post was written during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Without the labor of the actors currently on strike, the series being covered here wouldn’t exist.
