Marvel Cinematic Universe’s star, Zawe Ashton, who played the role of Dar-Benn in The Marvels, recently shared her unique experience of being part of the Marvel universe alongside her husband, Tom Hiddleston.
In a candid conversation with ComingSoon, Ashton was quizzed about her experience of working in the same cinematic universe as her husband, who is known for his portrayal of Loki in various Marvel Studios movies. She described the experience as “very special and very bizarre,” and went on to explain how it fosters a deeper understanding and empathy in their relationship.
“It’s very special and very bizarre,” Ashton remarked. “I think bizarre in the best way possible. You don’t plan for this kind of thing, you know? But I think any couple who have an understanding of each other’s work … I don’t know, just have a real privileged vantage point into what the other person has experienced and what they’ve gone through. It creates empathy, understanding, and connection.
“I think we are just very lucky to have this connection where I now know what it is that he does behind closed doors on those sets. I think any couple benefits from serendipitous things like that. But yeah, it is pretty unique to both be villains in a major franchise, I guess. [Laughs].”
