What’s the story behind Dark Horse’s Medusa?
The official synopsis for Medusa is intriguing: “Forget everything you thought you knew about Medusa. Condemned to be remembered as a monster, this timeless yet very mortal hero has spent thousands of years protecting humanity from the terrors of legend. Now, in Scotland, she faces an enemy that even the gods fear. With unshakeable determination, can the formidable Medusa save mankind one last time?”
In Greek mythology, Medusa is one of the Gorgons — three sisters with the power to petrify anyone who looks at them. The hero Perseus famously decapitated her, using her head as a weapon against his enemies. Medusa is easily recognized by her hair, often depicted as a nest of snakes.
Over time, Medusa has been a popular figure in books, films, TV shows, and video games. Most recently, Jessica Parker Kennedy, known for her role in The Flash, portrayed the character in Disney+’s live-action series adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
