Preview of Space Ghost #1 Reveals Six Pages from New Series

With their recent collaboration with Warner Bros, Dynamite Entertainment has hit a goldmine. Their comic book reboot of the ThunderCats franchise shattered sales records, and now they’re ready to strike gold again with a fresh series based on the iconic Space Ghost cartoon.

Originally brought to life by Hanna-Barbera in 1966, Space Ghost took viewers on thrilling adventures with the eponymous superhero. Alongside his youthful sidekicks, Jan and Jace, and a monkey named Blip, the Phantom of the Spaceways battled pirates and a motley crew of supervillains. Despite only lasting one season, the series remained a fan favorite, enjoying popularity in reruns throughout the 1970s and 1980s.

Get a sneak peek of the first issue with six non-sequential pages available for viewing below.

The New Space Ghost Comic: A Nostalgic Return To Its Roots

While most contemporary viewers are more acquainted with Space Ghost Coast To Coast, the new comic by writer David Pepose and artist Jonathan Lau takes inspiration from the original animated series. The focus is on high-octane action, portraying Space Ghost as a masked enigma. This approach embraces the fact that the original series never provided a secret identity or origin story for the character. The preview also hints at a significant role for Blip in the narrative of the new comic.

Dynamite has announced that a whopping 33,500 copies of Space Ghost #1 have already been sold. A second printing is on the horizon, but fans are advised to reserve a copy at their local comic book shops before the Final Order Cutoff on April 8, 2024, to ensure they get their hands on a copy when the comic hits the shelves.

Get ready to embark on a new adventure with Space Ghost #1, hitting comic shops everywhere on May 1, 2024.
