Andor Writer Joins James Mangold’s Star Wars Movie Project

Exciting news for Star Wars fans! The forthcoming movie from the acclaimed director of Logan, James Mangold, has found its co-writer. And guess what? He’s no stranger to the Star Wars universe.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Beau Willimon is all set to co-write the upcoming Star Wars film. Willimon, known for his work on the Netflix series House of Cards and the sci-fi drama The First, has also penned three episodes of the first season of the Disney+ show Andor — “Narkina 5,” “Nobody’s Listening,” and “One Way Out.”

So, when is James Mangold’s Star Wars movie set?

James Mangold’s Star Wars movie, tentatively titled Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi, will transport us thousands of years before the events of George Lucas’ A New Hope. This project marks another collaboration between Mangold and Lucasfilm, following his direction of the fifth and final installment of the Indiana Jones franchise, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

In other Star Wars updates, the much-anticipated film based on The Mandalorian — The Mandalorian & Grogu — has received an official release date from Disney. Announced for January 2024, The Mandalorian & Grogu is being helmed by Jon Favreau. Favreau is also producing the movie, working alongside Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni.
