Pa Kent Role Secured in Upcoming DCU Superman Film

Exciting news from the DC Universe! James Gunn’s highly anticipated Superman movie has found its Pa Kent.

According to The Wrap, Pruitt Taylor Vince has been cast as Jonathan “Pa” Kent, the adoptive father of our beloved Kal-El/Clark Kent. This isn’t Vince’s first rodeo with DC, as he previously portrayed Father Hennessey in the 2005 film Constantine. He’s also no stranger to the Marvel Universe, having played Grill in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Pa Kent has been brought to life by several actors in the past, including Kevin Costner in Man of Steel, Glenn Ford in the 1978 Superman film, and John Schneider in the TV series Smallville.

Who’s joining the cast of the DCU Superman movie?

David Corenswet (Pearl, The Politician) will be donning the cape as Superman, with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s Rachel Brosnahan playing Lois Lane. They’ll be joined by a star-studded cast including Nicholas Hoult, Skyler Gisondo, María Gabriela De Faría, Sara Sampaio, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, and more. Mark your calendars for July 11, 2025, when the film is set to hit the big screen.

The DC Universe is just getting started with its first phase, dubbed Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. This phase will feature a plethora of movies and TV shows, including a Batman and Robin movie titled The Brave and the Bold, a Supergirl movie called Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a Swamp Thing film, and several TV series.
