Before donning the iconic red cape as Clark Kent/Superman, the talented David Corenswet had his sights set on another superhero role. He reportedly auditioned for the part of Adam Warlock in James Gunn‘s blockbuster, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
James Gunn confirmed the swirling online rumors about Corenswet’s audition for the role of Adam Warlock in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during a fan interaction on the social media platform Threads. The role, however, eventually went to Will Poulter. Gunn admitted, “I asked him about it and he said he did so I believe him, but I don’t remember it,” revealing that he has no memory of Corenswet’s audition for Adam Warlock.

Marvel’s Miss is DC’s Masterstroke
Despite missing out on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Corenswet is now all set to step into the shoes of the world’s most iconic superhero, Superman, in his upcoming 2025 reboot movie. While the plot remains shrouded in mystery, Gunn has hinted that the movie will explore Superman’s struggle to balance his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing.
The reboot promises a fresh take on the Superman saga, bypassing the origin story and introducing us to Clark Kent already serving justice as the Man of Steel in Metropolis. He will be seen working at the Daily Planet alongside Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo), and Perry White (Wendell Pierce).
The star-studded Superman cast also includes Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl.
Production for Superman kicked off on February 29, 2024, and is slated to wrap up by late July or early August.
While you can catch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on Disney+, mark your calendars for July 11, 2025, when Superman is set to soar into theaters.
