DC Comics enthusiasts were left scratching their heads over a particular detail in the House of Brainiac saga. The narrative brought to light a city from Czarnia, the birthplace of Lobo, which had been cunningly snatched by Brainiac. Surprisingly, the city’s inhabitants were as untamed as the Main Man himself and were ready to join forces with Brainiac’s army. This was a stark contrast to the traditional portrayal of Czarnia as a utopian world governed by science and logic, much like Krypton. That is, until the Main Man annihilated them all.
The Superman: House of Brainiac Special #1 brilliantly harmonizes these seemingly contradictory narratives. Penned by Joshua Williamson and illustrated by Edwin Galmon, the opening tale sees Brainiac reminiscing about his acquisition of Paz City. This narrative revives an infamous character from Lobo’s history, the enigmatic woman known as Tribb.

Unraveling the Mystery of Lobo’s Nemesis, Miss Tribb
Miss Tribb first graced the pages of Lobo #1 in 1991, where she was introduced as the Main Man’s fourth-grade history teacher. Despite her age, which was ancient even by the standards of the immortal Czarnians, little was known about Miss Tribb. She was the author of the definitive book on Lobo and miraculously survived the genocide that wiped out the rest of their species.

The Main Man was reluctantly enlisted by the head of LEGION to serve as Miss Tribb’s bodyguard. This was due to her uncanny ability to irritate people, including Lobo himself. Fortunately, Lobo managed to fulfill his contract and deliver Miss Tribb to the head of the LEGION. He then took it upon himself to kill her in Lobo #4.
The preview of Superman: House of Brainiac Special #1 unveils Miss Tribb as a Czarnian general. She was the one who approached Brainiac and offered him Paz City, a sanctuary for those who resisted the order of the rest of the planet. This revelation elegantly resolves the conflicting depictions of Czarnia in the Lobo comics.
Superman: House of Brainiac Special #1 will hit the comic shops on April 30, 2024.
