December 2024 Release Date Set for ‘Kraven the Hunter’ Movie

Can you believe it’s been half a decade since the release of Happy Death Day 2U? This sequel, directed by Christopher Landon, followed the 2017 Groundhog Day-inspired slasher flick. Both films feature Jessica Rothe as the resilient Tree Gelbman. Landon had plans for a third installment with Rothe reprising her role. So, the question on everyone’s lips is… where is it?!

Speculation about Happy Death Day 3 has been rife for years, with the decision seemingly resting with producer Jason Blum. Happy Death Day 2U raked in $64 million globally, a significant drop from the first film’s $125 million. However, with a modest production budget of $9 million, the sequel still turned a profit for Blumhouse. So, we ask again… where is it?!

In a recent interview with Screen Geek, while promoting her new action-thriller Boy Kills World, franchise star Jessica Rothe gave fans a glimmer of hope for Happy Death Day 3.

Chris Landon has everything planned out,” Rothe reveals. “We’re just waiting for Blumhouse and Universal to align their stars.

Rothe further shared with Screen Geek, “I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I believe Tree [Gelbman] deserves her third and final chapter to either wrap up her story or kickstart a new journey.”

In 2020, Christopher Landon disclosed that the tentative title for the third film was Happy Death Day to Us, promising a departure from the previous two films.

Meanwhile, Christopher Landon is at the helm of a secretive thriller titled Drop for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes, and a werewolf movie named Big Bad for Lionsgate.
