Star of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Ian Ousley, recently spilled the beans on his dream role in the DC Universe directed by James Gunn.
During the Avatar: The Last Airbender panel at the 2024 Fan Expo Philadelphia, moderated by Screen Rant, Ousley expressed his desire to bring Beast Boy to life. “I’m a massive fan of Titans, and playing Beast Boy would be a dream come true,” he confessed. “Who knows, maybe one day?!”
First appearing in Doom Patrol #99 (1965), Beast Boy, also known as Garfield Logan, is a young superhero with the unique ability to morph into any animal. The brainchild of writer Arnold Drake and artist Bob Brown, Beast Boy has been a part of both the Doom Patrol and the Teen Titans, though he’s most recognized for his role in the latter.
Beast Boy has graced our screens in animated form in shows like Teen Titans, Teen Titans Go!, and Young Justice. Ryan Potter was the first to bring the character to life in the live-action DC series, Titans, which enjoyed a four-season run on DC Universe/HBO Max.
DC Studios is cooking up a Teen Titans movie
As of March 2024, a live-action Teen Titans movie is brewing at DC Studios. Ana Nogueira, the scriptwriter for the upcoming DC Universe movie, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, is rumored to be crafting the screenplay.
While Nogueira has a history with the DCU, it’s still up in the air whether Teen Titans will join the shared universe or stand alone under the DC Elseworlds banner.
Teen Titans marks the sixth DC movie announced under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran at DC Studios. The pair are currently managing a film roster that includes Superman (which recently unveiled a sneak peek of David Corenswet in the iconic suit), The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Swamp Thing, and The Batman Part II. The latter will be a part of Matt Reeves’ The Batman Universe and will be released as a DC Elseworlds movie.
Avatar: The Last Airbender is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
