Sneak Peek at Barfly #1, the Spin-off Comic from Minor Threats

We’re thrilled to present an exclusive sneak peek of the upcoming spin-off series from Dark Horse Comics, From the World of Minor Threats: Barfly #1, here at SuperHeroHype!

Imagine a bar, the Lower Lair, teeming with supervillains, lowlifes, and scumbags. Among them is a unique character, $#!%eater, a humanoid mutant fly who has to regurgitate digestive fluids onto his food before he can eat. He’s a lifelong minion, a loser who exists solely to serve his criminal master. But what happens when he no longer has a master to serve?

This four-issue series brings together comic book legend Kyle Starks (Where Monsters Lie) with the dynamic duo of Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum. They describe the series as “a feel-good, coming-of-age story about an insect monster-man searching for his identity in the criminal underworld of Twilight City.” The series features artwork by Ryan Browne (Eight Billion Genies), lettering by Nate Piekos (Minor Threats), and cover art by Minor Threats co-creator Scott Hepburn. Variant covers feature art by Browne, Martín Morazzo, Dan Hipp (1:10 ratio), and David Mack.

“I’m over the moon to contribute to the rich, superpowered universe of Minor Threats that Jordan Blum and Patton Oswalt have brought to life in the world of comics,” said Starks. “Working with the incomparable Ryan Browne is the cherry on top of this delicious comic book sundae.  I truly believe readers will fall head over heels for our lovable loser Sh*teater – a sweet little guy who’s just trying to find his place in the world after years of being a nameless minion!”

Mark your calendars! From the World of Minor Threats: Barfly #1 will hit the comic shops on July 10, 2024. You can pre-order it now for $4.99. The spin-off series will run for four issues.
