Get ready for a thrilling ride as the horror-comedy Scared to Death, penned and helmed by music video maestro Paul Boyd, is set to make waves in the genre film festival circuit. And guess what? We have the exclusive trailer just for you!
Starring horror icons Bill Moseley and Lin Shaye, Scared to Death features spine-chilling creature creations by the renowned Legacy FX, the masterminds behind Godzilla x Kong, Avatar, The Shape of Water, and the much-anticipated Alien: Romulus.
In Scared to Death, we follow the story of Jasper, an ambitious young filmmaker eager to make his mark in Hollywood. Working as a humble production assistant, he seizes an opportunity to step into the director’s shoes when he proposes that the cast and crew of their upcoming horror film attend a real séance in a haunted house for research.
The chosen location? An eerie, abandoned children’s shelter that has been closed for 70 years following the chilling murders of five children in 1942. The children were found scared to death. As the séance commences, the crew finds themselves trapped and haunted by the spirits of the children… and possibly something even more terrifying.
The film also features performances by Kurt Deimer and Rae Dawn Chong.
Director Paul Boyd shares with Bloody Disgusting, “I once bought an old house in Hollywood, a spacious place to raise my kids. After the purchase, the previous owner revealed that the house was haunted. Despite being a skeptic, I would wander around at night, peering over my shoulder and into mirrors, anticipating a ghostly encounter. But it never happened.”
“However, my wife and kids had a different experience,” he adds. “They had several terrifying encounters that felt all too real. This inspired me to create a film about ‘believing is seeing’. I decided to place a group of skeptics, filmmakers like myself, in a haunted house where they are forced to confront their fears and beliefs. I chose to make the story a genre parody to highlight the humor and absurdity of the situation, where adults behave like frightened children.”
