When Halloween rolls around, it’s time for Saw. While we won’t be seeing the franchise on the big screen this Halloween, the much-anticipated sequel Saw XI is set to make a grand entrance in Halloween 2025.
Mark your calendars for September 26, 2025, as the games are back in theaters. The director of Saw X, Kevin Greutert, is back in the director’s chair for Saw XI. Joining him is franchise veteran Marcus Dunstan (The Collector, All My Friends Are Dead), who is co-writing the script. In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Dunstan hinted that the upcoming movie is “angry” and has a fresh perspective to offer.
As Dunstan shared with the media outlet, “We’re currently penning XI, and Kevin Greutert is back to direct.” He added, “This one has a fresh perspective and it’s angry.”
Last year, Saw X made a triumphant return, bringing back both Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) and Amanda (Shawnee Smith) in a sequel smartly set between the original film and its first sequel. The franchise’s comeback was a massive success for Lionsgate, raking in a whopping $111 million at the global box office.
Details about the plot of Saw XI are still under wraps. It’s unclear whether it will pick up where Saw X left off or take a leap to a different point in the timeline. Stay tuned for more updates as we get them.
Marcus Dunstan has been a key player in the franchise for a long time, having written Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI and Saw 3D. Kevin Greutert has directed Saw VI, Saw 3D and Saw X.
