Super7 Introduces 2003 TMNT Figures with Enhanced Articulation Features

When Super7 embarked on the journey of creating the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ultimates, they had a clear vision. They wanted to recreate the vintage Playmates figures, but with a modern twist. They aimed to retain the original designs but enhance them with the intricate detail and articulation that today’s technology allows. However, the journey wasn’t without its bumps. Super7 deviated from the plan, introducing a version of the Rat King from a modern video game and a different military ape character from a lesser-known comic issue.

Unleashing the Millennial Power!

Whether these deviations were the reason for a change in strategy is unclear. What we do know is that the latest series of Ultimates is inspired by the 2003 animated series and its subsequent toys. But that’s not all! Super7 is also revamping their body style. Initially, Super7 Ultimates mirrored the Masters of the Universe Classics, gradually incorporating more joints. Now, they’re branching out with double-ball elbows and knees. The catch? All figures seem to share the same body, a common trait in many TMNT lines. It’s only in recent years (and movies) that the turtles have been depicted in different shapes and sizes.

Super7 is hitting the ground running by releasing all four turtles at once, instead of one per wave. This move is likely a strategic one, aimed at testing the market and spreading the development costs of the new articulation across four figures. If you order the full set directly from Super7, you’ll receive a bonus head pack. But let’s be real, these are just existing facial expressions with repainted bandanas to represent a different turtle…and the bandana tails going in the opposite direction.

Check out the full set of official images below and let us know what you think. As always, each figure is priced at $55, and preorders close on July 30th.
