Byron Bowers of The Chi Joins Cast of Marvel’s Wonder Man Series

Exciting news for Marvel fans! Byron Bowers, known for his role in The Chi, has been cast in the highly anticipated Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man series.

Wonder Man is a fresh addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), brought to life by the creative minds of Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest. The series will feature Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, stepping into the shoes of the eponymous superhero.

According to Deadline, Bowers has secured a role in the Wonder Man series. However, the specifics of his character remain a mystery, and the series’ premiere date is yet to be announced.

Bowers has an impressive acting portfolio, with roles in Showtime’s The Chi as Meldrick, and films like 2019’s Honey Boy, 2020’s Concrete Cowboy, 2021’s No Sudden Move, 2022’s Kimi, and more. He is also set to appear as a character named Slappy in Apple TV+’s Lady in the Lake, premiering on July 19, 2024.

So, what more can we uncover about Wonder Man?

Joining Abdul-Mateen II and Bowers in the star-studded cast of Marvel’s Wonder Man are Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, Demetrius Grosse as Eric Williams, and Lauren Glazier in a yet-to-be-revealed role. Rumors are also swirling about the potential involvement of Ed Harris and Josh Gad, although their casting is not officially confirmed.

Andrew Guest is the mastermind behind the series’ script, while Cretton and Stella Meghie will be directing multiple episodes. Cretton also joins Kevin Feige as an executive producer.

As for the storyline, it’s being kept tightly under wraps for now.

On The Official Marvel Podcast (via GamesRadar), Feige gave a tantalizing hint about Wonder Man, saying, “We have a show coming up that we’ve talked very little about called Wonder Man, that I won’t talk about much today either except to say it’s extremely different. It’s very exciting to be a part of a company of 25 years or more, and a company that’s been around for 85 years, nestled [within] the Walt Disney Company, that’s been around for 100 years, and still being able to try new things, to take characters and stories to new places. That’s what’s exciting to me.”
