She’s now a bartender, having distanced herself from her former comrades. Yet, despite her quest for a normal life, Kitty can’t ignore those in need. This leads her to save a young Mutant, whose powers are triggered following a violent encounter with a bouncer.

Exceptional X-Men: An Unlikely Team Takes Center Stage
The synopsis of the inaugural issue reveals that Kitty will mentor the new Mutant, who goes by the alias Bronze. She will be joined by two other fresh Mutants, Axo and Melee, and the White Queen, Emma Frost. This creates a tense dynamic, given the complex history between Emma and Kitty.

When Kitty first joined the X-Men, the White Queen was still part of the nefarious Hellfire Club. Even though Emma has since reformed, Kitty hasn’t forgotten their initial encounter and was slow to forgive. Their professional relationship has improved over time, but they rarely see eye to eye, except when it comes to educating the next generation of Mutants.
