Unraveling the Significance of the Savage Land to Rogue

Rogue’s journey to the Savage Land occurred during the iconic X-Men era of Chris Claremont and Jim Lee. In the pages of Uncanny X-Men #269, she battled Carol Danvers, then known as Ms. Marvel. The fight ended with Rogue being thrust into the lost world through a portal.
This unexpected detour had a transformative impact on Rogue. Stripped of her powers, she had to rely on her innate abilities and resilience to survive. This experience hardened her and reduced her reliance on her powers. However, the specifics of her survival remained a mystery in the Uncanny X-Men series. Her story was only revisited in Uncanny X-Men #274, where she was mysteriously allied with Magneto and Ka-Zar. Rogue: The Savage Land will delve into the tantalizing hints dropped in the original three-issue arc, including the hinted romance between Rogue and Magneto.
“In these five issues, I get to channel my passion for X-Men, Jim Lee, Chris Claremont, Zabu, scantily clad heroines (and heroes!), and probably most importantly: dinosaurs,” Seeley shared with Polygon. “Together with my collaborator Zulema Lavina, we’re going to deliver something fresh while paying homage to the irresistibly sexy and epic classic tale of a young Rogue and the most unlikely allies a girl from Mississippi could ask for: Magneto and Ka-Zar.”
Mark your calendars! Rogue: The Savage Land #1 hits comic shops everywhere on January 15, 2025.
