Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Scarlet Witch and Thor are two powerhouses that have sparked endless debates among fans about who would emerge victorious in a duel. Elizabeth Olsen, the actress who has brilliantly brought Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff to life in numerous MCU projects, has now shared her thoughts on this intriguing topic.
Elizabeth Olsen believes Scarlet Witch outpowers Thor, and explains how he could be defeated
While on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to discuss her film His Three Daughters, Olsen expressed her belief that Scarlet Witch holds more power than Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder. She even painted a picture of how her character could triumph over Thor. Interestingly, on the same episode aired on Monday, September 16, Hemsworth, who was there to promote Transformers One, was also a guest on the show.
When Kimmel asked her who she thought was the mightier Avenger between Wanda and Thor, Olsen confidently replied, “I think I am. The theory suggests that Wanda could beat him… I’m not sure, I’ve never wielded the hammer… I don’t know if that’s ever happened.”
Kimmel then added his two cents, “I think Wanda’s powers surpass a hammer and lightning and she probably outmatches the god of thunder, despite his immense power.”
This prompted Olsen to theorize how her character could outmaneuver Thor in a fight. “I think I could probably manipulate and infiltrate his body, replicating what he does.”
In the Marvel Comics, these two characters have clashed at least once. In Uncanny Avengers Volume 1 Issue #4, Wanda, with Havoc’s assistance, battled Thor, whose mind was under Red Skull’s control, who had acquired telepathic powers. She eventually unleashed her chaos magic to catapult another Avenger into space, effectively removing him from the battlefield and concluding the fight.
