Taron Egerton Joins Charlize Theron in Netflix’s ‘Apex’ as Co-Star

Get ready for a heart-pounding ride with Netflix’s forthcoming thriller, Apex. This adrenaline-fueled film, likened to Free Solo  crossed with Silence of the Lambs, will feature the stellar Charlize Theron. According to Deadline, Theron will share the screen with the talented Taron Egerton.

The acclaimed Baltasar Kormákur, known for Touch, will helm the direction of Apex.

The gripping storyline, penned by Jeremy Robbins of “The Purge” fame, revolves around a rock climber who becomes the prey in a deadly hunt. Robbins’ captivating script was chosen as part of 2021’s The Black List, a prestigious collection of the year’s most applauded unproduced Hollywood screenplays.

The premise of Apex is intriguing: “An adrenaline junkie embarks on a perilous river conquest, only to find that nature isn’t her only adversary.” In essence, our protagonist is pursued by an Apex predator of the human kind, promising a nail-biting experience.

Netflix executives were so impressed by the script that they purchased it even before the cast and director were finalized. Theron and Kormákur were their top picks, and both agreed to come on board after reading the script, Deadline reported.

Taron Egerton, who gained fame with Matthew Vaughn’s comic book adaptation The Kingsman: The Secret Service , is also set to star in Jaume Collet-Serra’s Netflix thriller Carry-On, premiering next month on the streaming platform.

Theron will also serve as a producer for the project, alongside Dawn Olmstead, Beth Kono, and AJ Dix through their newly launched media company, as well as Kormákur via his RVK productions; Ian Bryce; and Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and David Ready through Chernin Entertainment.
