The longstanding feud between Kitty Pryde and Emma Frost is a tale as old as time. They managed to find a semblance of peace during the Krakoa era, but the initial pages of Exceptional X-Men #3 reveal that Kitty is far from ready to bury the hatchet with the White Queen.
Exceptional X-Men #3, penned by Eve L. Ewing and illustrated by Carmen Carnero, continues the narrative from where the previous issue left off. Kitty Pryde was striving to lead a normal life in Chicago, away from the X-Men’s influence. However, she kept stumbling upon new Mutants in need of guidance, and couldn’t resist stepping in to help.
Emma Frost, who had been covertly observing her former teammate, caught wind of this. This intrusion would have irked Kitty, even without her doubts about the White Queen’s intentions. The tension culminates in a classic X-Men showdown, with the two heroes locking horns.

The Intriguing Past of Emma Frost and Kitty Pryde
Kitty Pryde’s first encounter with Emma Frost, then a member of the nefarious Hellfire Club, was far from pleasant. They kidnapped the X-Men shortly after Kitty joined the Xavier School. This left a bitter taste in Kitty’s mouth, making her Emma’s most vocal critic even after her attempts at reform.
In a twist of fate, Emma Frost later insisted on recruiting Kitty Pryde for the Astonishing X-Men team. Despite adopting most of the X-Men’s moral code, Emma feared she might revert to her old ways if given the chance. Having Kitty around ensured that someone would keep her in check.
Over time, the two developed a certain level of mutual respect, if not outright friendship. This led Emma Frost to recruit Kitty as the Red Queen of her Hellfire Company during the Krakoa Age. However, Emma’s typically aloof and indifferent demeanor seems to have reignited the old feud.
