Chad Michael Murray Contemplates on His Character’s Return in Marvel’s Agent Carter

Renowned actor Chad Michael Murray recently opened up about his experiences and reflections on the legacy of Marvel’s Agent Carter.

Marvel’s Agent Carter, an ABC series set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), is a thrilling narrative that picks up after the events of 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger and a 2013 short film titled Agent Carter. The series, which debuted in 2015 and ran for two captivating seasons, featured Hayley Atwell reprising her role as Peggy Carter, while Murray brought to life a character named Jack Thompson.

What insights did Chad Michael Murray share about Marvel’s Agent Carter?

In a recent interview with ComingSoon, Murray was asked to reflect on the show’s two seasons, especially considering the exponential growth of the MCU over the years.

“It’s been an incredible journey,” he responded. “I gained so much from this experience. Having the chance to work with such talented individuals was truly enriching. Louis [D’Esposito] would often visit the set, and it felt like being in the heart of the Marvel universe. I recall the time when they were editing — I believe it was The Avengers? The Russo Brothers were directing an episode before moving on to direct The Avengers. It was fascinating to witness the inner workings of the universe and the relentless efforts of everyone involved. We were creating this unique period piece, striving for authenticity, yet aiming to make it larger than life because it was a superhero project after all.

“I have a soft spot for Jack Thompson. I believe there’s a parallel universe where Jack Thompson played a much more significant role. There’s something intriguing about Jack Thompson. We never really delved deep into his character, never really explored what lay beneath the surface. I always like to think that Jack would’ve returned.”

Murray further discussed Jack’s cliffhanger ending in Agent Carter Season 2. He added, “If you’ve seen the show, you know something happens to Jack. But Jack would’ve returned. I can visualize it even now, and we would’ve discovered so much more about Jack. Despite his flaws, there was something endearingly unlikable about him, don’t you think?”

Marvel’s Agent Carter is currently available for streaming on Disney+.
