Get ready for an epic battle in the Marvel Universe this December! Writer Al Ewing and artist Martín Cóccolo are bringing an all-new Thor Corps to the pages of Immortal Thor #5.
In this thrilling issue, the King of Asgard gathers his army to face the return of Toranos. But even an army of storm gods couldn’t stop the Elder God of Thunder. This is the story of the Immortal Thor and the battle that will define him. Marvel has also unveiled Alex Ross’ incredible cover art, featuring Thor charging into battle alongside other characters who have wielded his power over the years, like Jane Foster, Storm, Loki (Ikol), and Beta Ray Bill.
“Let’s talk about that cover,” exclaimed Ewing on the This Week in Marvel podcast. “It’s basically everyone who has previously been Thor, back as Thor again, to back up the main Thor!”

During the podcast, Ewing also shared his approach to writing Immortal Thor. “I wanted to do something big and meaningful, but also more optimistic,” he explained. “Thor is a high fantasy character, so you write that from a position of hope. It’s nice to have a little hope!”
The history of Marvel’s Thor Corps
First introduced in 1991’s Mighty Thor #440 and #441, the original Thor Corps consisted of Beta Ray Bill, Eric Masterson, and Dargo Ktor. Created by Tom DeFalco and Pat Olliffe, they later had their own limited series.
In 2015’s Secret Wars, a new and larger Thor Corps emerged, featuring various versions of Thor from across the multiverse, including Thor Odinson and Jane Foster from Earth-616.
Don’t miss out on Immortal Thor #5, hitting shelves on Wednesday, December 13 from Marvel Comics.
