Get ready for an epic ride with Season 2 of Loki! Marvel’s trickster god is back in his own series, and the premiere episode on Disney+ has already taken the world by storm.
The Walt Disney Company has reported that the first episode of Season 2, which aired on Thursday, October 5, has become the second most viewed season premiere on Disney+ for 2023. Within just three days, it garnered a whopping 10.9 million global views. Talk about a massive hit!
But who claimed the top spot? Well, that honor goes to the beloved Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, which kicked off its third season in March.
Loki is a commercial and critical hit
Not only is Loki Season 2 a commercial success, but it has also received critical acclaim. The review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes has certified it as fresh, with an impressive 88% overall score and a 94% audience score. Fans and critics alike can’t get enough!
Created by Michael Waldron, the first season of Loki premiered on Disney+ in June 2021. Tom Hiddleston returns as Loki, the mischievous brother of Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth. In the first season, Loki found himself caught between timelines and was apprehended by the enigmatic Time Variance Authority (TVA).
The TVA initially appeared as a protector of the “Sacred Timeline,” but their true intentions were gradually revealed. In Season 2, Loki teams up with former TVA members who have discovered they were being manipulated. This includes Owen Wilson’s Mobius and Ke Huy Quan’s O.B., a new character introduced in the season premiere. Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie, a variant of Loki, also joins the fight against the TVA and its mastermind, Jonathan Majors’ Kang.
Season 2 is helmed by talented directors Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead, Dan DeLeeuw, and Kasra Farahani, with Eric Martin serving as the head writer.
You can catch the first episode of Loki Season 2 right now on Disney+. The season will consist of six thrilling episodes, released weekly until Thursday, November 9. Don’t miss out on this incredible journey!
