Prepare to be enchanted by the world of strange fairies and eerie homes! The highly anticipated series adaptation of Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi’s The Spiderwick Chronicles has found a new home at Roku. Get ready to dive into the captivating eight-episode first season, set to grace your screens early next year.
This thrilling take on the beloved children’s book series was initially announced as a Disney+ series in 2021. However, in a surprising turn of events, Disney decided not to air the completed first season. As reported by Deadline, this decision was part of Disney’s strategic shift towards profitability, with the series being deemed darker than the usual Disney+ content.
The Spiderwick Chronicles follows the extraordinary journey of the Grace family as they relocate to their ancestral home, brimming with enigmatic secrets and delightful surprises. The talented cast includes Joy Bryant as the caring mother Helen Grace, Noah Cottrell and Lyon Daniels as the adventurous twins Simon and Jared Grace, Mychala Lee as the resourceful sister Mallory, Jack Dylan Grazer lending his voice to the mischievous Thimbletack, and Christian Slater portraying the villainous Mulgarath. Executive producers Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi, along with Kat Coiro (who directed the first two episodes) and showrunner Aron Eli Coleite, known for their work on Locke & Key, Heroes, Star Trek: Discovery, and Daybreak, bring this enchanting world to life.
While an exact release date has yet to be announced, you can expect to embark on this magical journey in “early 2024.”
