Toy Review: First Ahsoka Season 1 Figures Released by Hasbro

Get ready Star Wars fans, because the toys from Ahsoka season 1 are finally hitting stores! After the disappointment of the delayed Obi-Wan Kenobi figures, it’s a relief to see the supply chain issues resolved for Hasbro. Now, fans of the TV show can get their hands on some of the major characters as toys. Of course, there are a few characters that were obviously delayed for spoiler reasons, like the masked Stormtrooper Enoch and Ezra in his new bearded look.

Hasbro sent over several samples for review, including some exciting additions. Among them are four six-inch Star Wars Black Series figures, a deluxe 3.75-inch Vintage figure, a 12-inch light-and-sound Ahsoka, and two 2.5-inch scale Mission Fleet playsets. While most of them meet expectations, there are definitely a few surprises in the mix.

New and Old

The Ahsoka Tano Black Series figure seems to be the same as her Mandalorian figure, since her initial outfit in the series remains unchanged. It would have been nice to see her with a hooded robe, but this figure is still worth getting if you missed out on the previous edition. Plus, the side panels on each figure come together to form a full mural, making it a must-have for completists.

For those who have been waiting for a 6-inch Rosario Dawson Ahsoka figure, your time has come. And it’s safe to say that we can expect more figures of her from season 1, including her spacesuit and white-robed looks. It’s worth noting that the Black Series has returned to its classic appearance, which is a welcome change after the plastic-free shift that made it difficult to see the figure inside and increased the risk of theft.

The Ezra figure is based on his hologram appearance, although it’s not made of clear plastic. It’s designed based on production designs, with yellow accents that match his classic cartoon colors. While Ezra is never seen in action like this on the show, it’s a great option for fans who wanted his final Rebels appearance in plastic. The only downside is the long, double-balled neck, which looks a bit strange.

No Big Surprises

Morgan Elsbeth’s figure suffers from spoiler-alert syndrome. Since she only showcases her glowing sword and full power in the final episode, her figure comes without a weapon, which feels like a letdown. However, Hasbro did anticipate some action scenes and made her skirt out of soft plastic in four parts, allowing for dynamic poses. It’s likely that we’ll see a future version of her figure with a sword and Nightsister head. For now, it’s a great likeness but lacks something to fight with, unless she steals a weapon from another figure.

The Sabine figure is quite different from the previous one based on her animated look. The previous figure had double-jointed knees, which allowed for better execution of figures with prominent kneepads. However, the new figure has pin-and-disc joints for the knees and elbows, and the kneepads are attached to the upper legs, which is an odd choice. The 3.75-inch figure, on the other hand, has the kneepads attached to the lower legs, which is a better design.

Size Matters

Now here’s something really odd: the small Sabine figure actually costs more than the large one. It’s priced at $27.99, while the larger version is $24.99. This pricing makes very little sense. The small Sabine does come with extra thigh cut joints and bonus accessories like a paint nozzle, shoulder bag, and her cat Murley, but it’s essentially the same figure as the larger one with a few unnecessary extras. It’s possible that the level of deco costs more on a smaller figure, but it’s still a strange pricing decision.

If you fold little Sabine’s legs enough, she can actually fit into the Mission Fleet T-6 Jedi Shuttle, giving it a vintage line’s Mini Rigs vibe.

The 2.5-inch Ahsoka figure meant to fit in the shuttle seems to bounce around a bit. It’s a bit puzzling considering there’s a hole in her back. It wouldn’t have been difficult to add a back peg in the seat to hold her in place, unless they wanted to leave space for a 3.75-inch figure for more flexibility. Interesting.

Junk in the Trunk

Junk in the Trunk

Get ready for an epic ride with the proper scale T-6! This Vintage Collection masterpiece features two cockpit seats and a full cargo area complete with an armory, bedroom, and training room. It’s a dream come true for Star Wars collectors. While a HasLab funding might be needed for this ultimate version, the Mission Fleet version is a great alternative. With a price tag of $40-$50, it offers a sleek design and firing missile cannons that can be easily removed for those who prefer a cleaner look. The wings may not rotate a full 360 degrees, but they still provide plenty of action as they move up and down in a clockwise direction.

Don’t be fooled by the fold-out landing struts, they may be invisible when the vehicle is set down, but they add sturdiness to the display. And here’s a surprise – the back of the T-6 opens up to reveal a training room! With foot pegs that allow for another Mission Fleet figure to stand in place, the possibilities for play are endless.

But wait, there’s more! The Ahsoka figure that comes with the T-6 is also available in a multipack with Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, and Grogu. This set showcases the incredible scale of the Mission Fleet line, with Grogu being proportionately larger than expected. It’s a delightful surprise that adds even more value to this already amazing collection.

And let’s not forget the mini-action feature! With a clear stand and a lever, you can make a frog or a training drone move back and forth. It’s a small detail, but it’s the kind of thing that kids absolutely love.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. Galactic Action Ahsoka comes with lights and sounds that perfectly match the recent whip-cracking Indiana Jones figure. It’s an immersive experience that brings the character to life.

Light in the Darkness

Step into the darkness and witness the power of Ahsoka’s lightsabers. This figure may not be super-poseable, but it still offers plenty of movement in the head, shoulders, and wrists. With separate buttons for lightsaber lights/sounds and phrases, you can recreate epic battles and hear Ahsoka say, “May the Force be with you.” And if it’s not Rosario Dawson’s voice, it’s a convincing impersonation.

But here’s the real treat – this figure truly shines in the dark. With only her illuminated weapons lighting up the room, it creates a mesmerizing effect. And for just $30, it’s a steal. Plus, it’s only $2 more than the tiny Sabine figure. Talk about value!

With an array of figures to choose from, including Baylan and Shin coming soon, there’s something for every Star Wars fan. And while we may have to wait a bit longer for surprise characters from the show, we can still look forward to Thrawn and some Stormtrooper repaints in the near future.
