Blue Beetle‘s Ángel Manuel Soto is excited about the future of Ted Kord in the DCU. In a recent interview with IGN, Soto expressed his hope that Ted Kord will make an appearance in upcoming DCU projects.
“I really hope so,” Soto said when asked about the possibility of seeing Ted Kord in future DCU projects. “The Blue and Gold Series, featuring Booster Gold and Ted Kord, is amazing. They also play important roles as mentors to Jaime Reyes. So hopefully, we can establish a more direct presence for [Kord] in his life. In the film, he’s always mentioned, always there in spirit, but at the end, we reveal that he is not dead. This opens up a lot of opportunities for fun adventures.”
Ted Kord, the second person to become Blue Beetle, is presumed dead for most of the Blue Beetle movie released in 2023. However, the film’s mid-credit scene reveals that Ted is alive and trying to contact his daughter, Jenny (played by Bruno Marquezine).
Xolo Maridueña is still playing Jaime Reyes in the DCU
In the upcoming DCU, which starts with the animated Creature Commandos series in 2024, there will be a new continuity. However, some actors and plot points from previous DCEU movies will still be relevant. Xolo Maridueña will continue to portray Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle, and Viola Davis and John Cena will also reprise their roles as Amanda Waller and Peacemaker.
Unfortunately, the cast of 2017’s Justice League will not be returning for the DCU. However, there are reports that Jason Momoa is in talks to play Lobo in the new continuity.
