First Look at ‘Poohniverse’ Horror Film: ‘Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare’

Get ready for a chilling collaboration as three titans of terror join forces for The Monkey. This adaptation of a Stephen King tale is being brought to life by producer James Wan and director Osgood Perkins.

As reported by Deadline, NEON has won the rights to the movie after a fierce bidding war, further cementing their status as a major player in the horror genre.

According to Deadline, the project sparked a bidding frenzy among multiple U.S. distributors after its latest promo at Cannes, with the deal reportedly closing in the high seven figures.

Keep your eyes peeled for The Monkey as NEON is set to release it in 2025.

The Monkey originates from Skeleton Crew, a 1985 collection of Stephen King’s short horror stories that also includes The Mist, The Jaunt, The Raft, Survivor Type, The Reach, and others.

The film boasts a star-studded cast featuring Theo James (The White Lotus), Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), Elijah Wood (Maniac), Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth), Colin O’Brien (Wonka), Rohan Campbell (Halloween Ends), and Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek).

Osgood Perkins, known for The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Gretel & Hansel, and the upcoming Longlegs, penned the screenplay for the adaptation and is also directing the film.

In The Monkey, twin brothers Hal and Bill stumble upon their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, triggering a series of horrifying deaths. Despite discarding the toy and drifting apart over time, the brothers are forced to reunite when the deadly events start happening again. Their mission? To destroy the monkey once and for all before it claims the lives of their loved ones.

James Wan is producing the film alongside his Atomic Monster partner Michael Clear (M3GAN), and C2 Motion Picture Group’s Jason Cloth (Joker) and Dave Caplan (Babylon).
