LEGO to Release Official ‘Jaws’ Boat Set in August

Get ready to set sail this summer with a bigger boat, courtesy of LEGO. LEGO has given us a sneak peek of their upcoming Jaws set on Instagram, featuring a video that cleverly mimics the iconic Jaws poster.

Mark your calendars for the release of the official 1,497-piece LEGO set on August 1, 2024.

LEGO enthusiast Falconbricks has given us a first glimpse of the new set, shown below. The set was greenlit by the LEGO company in May 2023 after the fan-proposed project by Jonny Campbell garnered the required 10,000 supporters in 2022. Priced at $159.99, the set features a 14-inch-high LEGO replica of the boat, along with the infamous shark, which is positioned on a broad diorama base.

To top it all off, the set will include three minifigs: Chief Martin Brody, Matt Hooper, and Quint, portrayed respectively by Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss, and Robert Shaw in the Steven Spielberg masterpiece.

This exciting news comes just in time for the Fourth of July holiday, a significant date in the blockbuster classic. The fear of water began with Steven Spielberg’s horror classic in 1975, an adaptation of Peter Benchley’s same-titled novel that has kept people away from the water for nearly 50 years now.

In Jaws, “A young woman’s life is tragically cut short by a shark while skinny-dipping near the New England tourist town of Amity Island. Police chief Martin Brody wants to close the beaches, but mayor Larry Vaughn overrules him, fearing the loss of tourist revenue will cripple the town. Ichthyologist Matt Hooper and grizzled ship captain Quint (Robert Shaw) offer to help Brody capture the killer beast, leading to an epic showdown of man vs. nature.”

The horror classic inspired three sequels.

With Jaws celebrating its 50th anniversary next year and a documentary in the works, stay tuned for more Jaws-related news in the upcoming months.

In the meantime, gear up for the arrival of LEGO’s new set on August 1.
