Upcoming Roguelike Game ‘Feed the Deep’ Invites Players to Quench Eldritch Hunger [Trailer]

Are you craving for another dose of aquatic Lovecraftian gaming? If DREDGE isn’t quite hitting the spot, then Luke Muscat, the mastermind behind Jetpack Joyride, might just have the perfect solution for you with his upcoming deep-sea roguelike, Feed the Deep. This game takes a unique twist on the genre, tasking you with feeding an Eldritch creature lurking in the ocean depths, rather than focusing on fishing.

Drawing inspiration from Dome Keeper and Spelunky, Feed the Deep is set to launch on August 16 on PC via Steam. The game’s premise is straightforward yet intriguing. Humanity has started constructing floating cities on the ocean, but we didn’t anticipate the presence of a ravenous Lovecraftian behemoth beneath the waves. Your mission? Feed the beast before it ascends to the surface to feast on the unsuspecting populace.

To achieve your goal, you’ll plunge into procedurally-generated undersea caves, gathering resources that can be exchanged for upgrades and items on the surface. As you advance, you’ll delve into increasingly deeper waters, navigating dark spaces, managing limited oxygen, and dealing with hostile marine life. The horror may not be immediately evident, but the prospect of being trapped underwater with dwindling oxygen while trying to satiate an undersea monster’s hunger aligns perfectly with the chilling theme of Black Salt Games’ title.
