Initial Report Incorrectly Claims Danny Ramirez’s Involvement in Thunderbolts

It seems that Danny Ramirez won’t be gracing the screen in Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts* after all.

Known for his role as Joaquin Torres/Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ramirez made his official MCU debut in 2021’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Fans can look forward to seeing him reprise this role in Captain America: Brave New World, set to hit the screens in February 2025.

An article from Variety initially suggested that Ramirez would also feature in Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*, slated for release about three months after Captain America: Brave New World.

The original version of Variety’s article stated, “I suggest that [Lewis] Pullman talk to Ramirez, who is also in Thunderbolts, about replacing Joaquin Phoenix in Todd Haynes’ untitled queer drama.”

However, the phrase “Who is also in Thunderbolts” was swiftly removed from Variety’s story about 30 minutes after publication, hinting that the initial report may have been inaccurate.

So, who’s in the cast of Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts* movie?

Despite the confusion, Pullman is confirmed to star in Thunderbolts* alongside Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.

Directed by Jake Schreier, Thunderbolts* is set to premiere in United States theaters on May 2, 2025. Marvel’s Kevin Feige has teased that the mysterious asterisk in the title will be explained at a later date.

Meanwhile, Captain America: Brave New World also boasts a star-studded cast including Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Giancarlo Esposito as Seth Voelker/Sidewinder, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, Tim Blake Nelson/Leader, Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross/Red Hulk, and more. It’s set to release in United States theaters on February 14, 2025.
