The SAG-AFTRA talent union is back at the negotiation table with video game companies, discussing the rules for using AI in voice acting for games.
Both parties have confirmed that SAG-AFTRA and the convenience bargaining group, with whom the union negotiates its Interactive Media Agreement, will recommence negotiations on October 23.
The convenience bargaining group comprises of industry giants such as Activision Productions, Blindlight, Disney Character Voices, Electronic Arts Productions, Formosa Interactive, Insomniac Games, Llama Productions, Take 2 Productions, and WB Games.
On July 24, SAG-AFTRA called for a strike after talks hit a roadblock over the issue of balancing voice actor rights and the use of AI tools in game production.
At this time, no further comments have been made by either party. However, SAG-AFTRA has announced that its members will be picketing WB Games in Burbank, California, tomorrow.
