Meet the enigmatic Bruce Banner of the revamped Ultimate Universe. This version of Banner is a darker, more amoral character than his Earth-616 counterpart, known for conducting ruthless experiments that have left vast areas of his world irradiated. This Hulk is also a different beast, seemingly embracing Zen practices to control his fury. We’ve yet to witness the Ultimate Hulk in action, but the teaser pages of The Ultimates #6 hint that a showdown with Banner is on the horizon.

Authored by Deniz Camp and illustrated by Juan Frigeri, The Ultimates #6 kicks off with the titular team on red alert. They’ve discovered a superhuman prison where inmates are slated for execution. The critical nature of the mission makes the heroes throw caution to the wind, providing the Hulk with the perfect opportunity to set a seemingly peaceful trap.

Ultimates #6: The First Full Team Assembly
Apart from hinting at a clash with the Hulk, Ultimates #6 is significant as it marks the first time the entire team unites for a single mission. Previous issues have primarily focused on individual or pairs of team members, with the team gradually growing. While new characters have been introduced, few have received substantial development.

The previous issue, for example, introduced us to this Earth’s Hawkeye. Yet, we know little about them apart from their Native American roots, their disdain for the Roxxon corporation, and their archery prowess. This is still more than we know about the new America Chavez, who hasn’t been seen since her debut in Ultimates #2. It will be fascinating to see the entire team in action as they face off against the Hulk and his disciples.
