Get ready, Marvel fans! The official trailer for the inaugural issue of the Ultimate X-Men series, penned and illustrated by the talented Peach Momoko, has just been unveiled.
Set to hit the stands in early March, Ultimate X-Men is the third installment in Marvel’s revamped Ultimate Universe, following the successful launches of Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate Black Panther. The trailer offers a sneak peek into Momoko’s audacious reimagining of the mutant world, with the narrative revolving around Hisako Ichiki, also known as Armor. Another key character is Maystorm, a creation of Momoko’s for Marvel’s New Champions variant cover program.

Marvel has also unveiled the array of stunning covers that will grace Ultimate X-Men #1. The premiere issue boasts a main cover by Momoko, who also contributes two variant covers. Other variant covers are the works of renowned artists such as Aka, InHyuk Lee, Betsy Cola, Dike Ruan, and Mark Brooks.
Diving into the Ultimate X-Men Universe
The official synopsis for Ultimate X-Men #1 introduces us to Hisako Ichiki, a teenager who craves a normal life amidst political turmoil. However, destiny has other plans as urban legends come alive in Japan, bringing with them unusual new powers. Get ready to meet Armor, Maystorm, and a fresh team of Ultimate X-Men like never before!
“Initially, I was apprehensive about being chosen for such a significant project. However, as I continue to draw and write the series, I find my confidence in my vision for ULTIMATE X-MEN growing,” Momoko shared with AiPT Comics. “ULTIMATE X-MEN isn’t a direct adaptation of classic X-Men stories. I like to think that [Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski] and [Ultimate Spider-Man writer] Jonathan Hickman chose me because they wanted something entirely fresh and unique.”
