Get ready, comic book fans! Marvel Comics has just dropped an exciting sneak peek of the much-anticipated first issue of Bryan Edward Hill and Stefano Caselli’s Ultimate Black Panther.
Set to hit comic stores this Wednesday, Ultimate Black Panther #1 is already creating a buzz. Thanks to an exclusive reveal by CBR, we get a six-page glimpse into the ruthless campaign of Moon Knight to seize control of Africa. The preview also uncovers a surprising twist in Earth-6160: T’Challa/Black Panther, the reigning king of Wakanda, is wedded to none other than Okoye, the High Mentor of the Dora Milaje.

Here’s the official synopsis for Ultimate Black Panther #1: “THE NEW ULTIMATE BLACK PANTHER! Following ULTIMATE INVASION, Khonshu and Ra — collectively known as Moon Knight — are on a mission to extend their ruthless reign over Africa. In retaliation, Wakanda, the solitary nation standing against them, will unleash its champion … its king … the Black Panther! This daring new interpretation of Black Panther and Wakanda comes from the creative genius of Bryan Hill (BLADE, KILLMONGER) and Stefano Caselli (X-MEN RED, AVENGERS).”
Black Panther’s pivotal role in the revamped Ultimate Universe
Interestingly, T’Challa’s marriage to Okoye is just one of many game-changing developments in Ultimate Black Panther. In the original Marvel Universe, Black Panther was wedded to Storm of the X-Men. But in this new Ultimate Universe, Storm is neither an X-Man nor T’Challa’s love interest. Instead, she’s romantically involved with Erik Killmonger, a classic Black Panther adversary who, in a surprising twist, isn’t a villain on Earth-6160. Together, Storm and Killmonger are freedom fighters seeking Wakanda’s aid to free Africa from Moon Knight’s grip.
This month, Hill and Caselli’s Ultimate Black Panther becomes the second series to launch as part of Marvel’s revamped Ultimate Universe, following Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto’s Ultimate Spider-Man. The momentum continues in March with Peach Momoko’s Ultimate X-Men. Stay tuned for more announcements about upcoming Ultimate Universe titles.
Mark your calendars! Ultimate Black Panther #1 will be available for purchase on Wednesday, February 7 from Marvel Comics.
